The Centre College Student Affiliate chapter of the American Chemical Society was chartered in March 1969.

The club organizes a variety of activities including:
- On-campus speakers from industry, academic and governmental agencies
- Field trips to labs and industries in a variety of settings

Pliant Corporation, fall 2003- Chemistry magic shows for elementary schools in our area

Danville Montessor School, 15 November 2005- Assist with judging of local area science fairs
- Athletic competitions with other student groups, including an annual croquet match with the math department
- And purely social events: picnics, pizza parties, etc.

- Blythe Ashcraft (Centre "03), graduate student in chemistry at Wake Forest University, described her research involving photoacoustic spectroscopy and computational chemistry and provided advice to students about postgraduate education in chemistry; 9 March 2004.
- Dr. Charles R. Martin, (Centre '75), Professor of Chemistry at the University of Florida, spoke on "Nanoscience in Bioanalytical Chemistry" on 13 October 2005. The talk was in conjunction with the monthly meeting of the Lexington section of the American Chemical Society.
- Dr. John Thorngate (Centre '81), analytical chemist for Beam Wine Estates, spoke on "Wine Flavor Chemistry: the Good, the Bad, and the Ugni" on 14 November 2006.
