Course Policy:

Exams, Homework, and Grading - Grades are based on two in-semester exams, a final exam, and homework sets.  Each in-semester exam and the final exam counts 30%.  The problem sets count 10%.  Homework is due one week after it has been handed out and it must be in Excel spreadsheet format, unless otherwise specified.  Homework can be turned in on floppy disk or attached to an email.  Homework cannot be accepted after the due date, so make sure you get your homework to me before the close of business that day.  I recommend you purchase the study guide and use it faithfully.

Attendance and Class Participation - Attendance will be taken with a sign up sheet.  Not attending class will adversely affect your grade through your performance on exams.  Class participation is expected and enthusiastically encouraged, it is your best defense against becoming confused and it is the best feedback I get about our communication.  Besides, this is supposed to be fun!

Study Hints - Good class notes are the foundation of success in college course work.  They are the best indication you have of what the professor thinks is important.  Hence, they are the best leading indicator you have for what will be on the exam.  The best class notes are taken when you have completed the reading assignments before class.  At the end of each week, recopy your notes, filling parts you did not get completely from the text and your classmates' notes.  If you do this regularly, you do not have to "pull an all-nighter" before the exam.

Office Hours - MW 1-2:30 p.m. and by appointment.  When not in class you will find me in the office.  If in the office, you will normally find me available to talk.  I may have to ask you to come back, however.
