Insights on Choosing a MajorDeciding on a major is a complex process that takes some foresight, time and adequate research. Students should be proactive and plan ahead! As they are going to invest the time and energy in a specific and intensive course load, it is wise to ensure that the field they’re specializing in is one that captures their attention and most of all, their passion! The following are some strategies for choosing a major:
Sophomores are required to see their academic advisor between March 4th- 18th in order to discuss major declaration. The deadline for choosing a major is MARCH 18, 2009. Career Services is available to all students to aid in the process of choosing a major. We offer various self- assessments and career exploration tools. Outside of scheduling an appointment with their career counselors, there are helpful resources available via our website on the Career Planning page. Remember, who they become in the process of achieving their goals is the real purpose. The character formed during their time at Centre will create a foundation for the rest of their lives. Students interested in scheduling an appointment should call 859-238-5283. Actuaries Unlimited to Recruit on Campus Mark Fishman, with Actuaries Unlimited, Inc. will be in Career Services on Thursday, March 5th at 11:30 to talk with students regarding a paid summer internship.
