Internship Opportunities for German Studies students
Doing an internship during the semester, over the CentreTerm or in the summer may be the way for you to link your interest in German language and the culture of Central Europe to your future career. If you think the commitment of an internship is too long, try an "externship" before an internship to test the waters. During an externship you follow a professional in your area for a few days, observing how she or he works. Contact Career Services for more information about these opportunities.

Please note that Centre has a limited amount of money to help support those doing internships during the CentreTerm and the summer. This program is known as Centre Internship Plus. A competitive application process is involved.

In 2005, the German Academic Exchange Service (der Deutsche Akademische Austausch Dienst--DAAD) began a new program for summer research and work opportunities for people who study or have studied biology, chemistry, and physics (as well as earth sciences and engineering). This program takes the form of an summer internship for continuing undergrads (the RISE program) and summer work for those with bachelors degrees (the RISE pro program).
