Welcome
to the Centre College Music Program

|
Centre's Music Program offers a wide variety of performance and academic opportunities. Any student may take private lessons, participate in ensembles, and take courses ranging from music theory and history to world music and jazz history. Classes are small and are taught only by regular Centre faculty. We offer a Bachelor of Arts degree with a music major or minor. Students may also continue their music study for a long-term in our Centre-in-Europe programs in London and Strasbourg. Many students pursue a music major or minor along with a major or minor in another subject area. The musical life of the college is unusually lively, with numerous performances by college faculty, students, and ensembles. In addition, Centre is one of the few liberal arts colleges of its size to showcase world-class artists at the Norton Center for the Arts. Three concert series each year feature internationally known artists such as Wynton Marsalis, the New York City Opera, Yo Yo Ma, Itzhak Perlman, Dawn Upshaw, Murray Perahia and performances by major orchestras, ballet companies, chamber groups, and musical theater companies. All such performances are free to Centre students. We offer a number of fine arts scholarships for talented students, regardless of intended academic major. These awards encourage and recognize students' valuable contributions to the artistic and intellectual vibrancy of Centre College. Photo: |
