Tools for Building these Web Pages
Software
- Chem3D was used to build
the chemical structures, minimize them, determine their energies, and
make the animations.
- Jmol makes the molecules not only viewable but
interactive.
- Coffee Cup HTML Editor++
was used to write the HTML and JavaScript.
- Excel was used to manipulate the xyz coordinates of molecules
that came from Chem3D, so that Jmol can interpret them.
- Paint Shop Pro is wonderful
for creating and modifying images.
Web Resources
- Eric Martz at U Mass
has a very extensive site with explanations for developing molecular
visualization tutorials. Jmol uses the same scripting language as RasMol and
Chime.
