Pre-Pharmacy at Centre CollegeMost centre graduates who pursue careers in pharmacy obtain their PharmD degree before going to work in independent pharmacies or retail chain pharmacies. Recent Centre graduates have attended pharmacy school at: Auburn University, University of Kentucky, and Purdue University. In addition to demonstrating competence in their science courses, successful pharmacy school applicants have experience working in a pharmacy. This pharmacy experience is usually attained via a CentreTerm internship or summer employment in a pharmacy. You should be aware that pharmacy schools typically require significantly more courses for admission that medical schools do, often including economics, statistics, and microbiology. Rising seniors who have just decided to pursue a career in pharmacy should expect to spend an additional year after graduation to complete prerequisite courses and obtain pharmacy experience. Applicants to pharmacy school normally take the PCAT during the fall of the senior year. You can register for the PCAT online at: http://www.pcatweb.info PCAT schedule for 07-08 academic year:
