Failure to adhere to any of the following rules constitutes a recruitment infraction and could jeopardize the placement of a Potential New Member (PNM) as well as the standing of a chapter on campus.
Rules applicable at all times:
1. Potential New Members may not enter a sorority house until Formal Recruitment unless it is to attend a Christmas party;
2. Potential New Members are prohibited from giving or accepting any gift from an affiliated woman. This includes, but is not limited to, a meal, soft drink, favor, promissory bid, or an alcoholic beverage;
3. Consuming alcohol in a female residence hall with an affiliated woman or in the residence of any affiliated woman (on or off campus) is strictly prohibited;
4. Potential new member are always allowed to visit and communicate with their resident assistant (RA). This is regardless of whether or not an RA is affiliated with a Greek-letter organziation or not. Rho Gammas should be used in the same capacity. All questions, concerns and issues should be communicated through both of these groups.
Additional rules during Formal Recruitment:
1. Silence is implemented throughout Formal Recruitment. Between 6:00 pm, Thursday January 31, 2008 and the time you receive your bid on Sunday, February 3, 2008, a potential new member may not correspond with an affiliated woman, verbally or non-verbally. The only acceptable interactions between PNM's and affiliated women are during and about class and during a scheduled recruitment event;
2. A potential new member may not sit with an affiliated woman during meals
3. Saturday, Feburary 2, 2008, potential new members will only be permitted to eat lunch at Cowan between 12:00 pm and 1:00 pm.
4. A potential new member may not visit an affiliated woman in her place of residence and an affiliated woman may not visit a potential new memebr in her place of residence.
5. Strict silence is a period of ZERO contact between potential new members and affiliated women. This period exists from the moment a potential new member completes her Membership Recruitment Acceptance Agreement ("Pref card") and concludes when the PNM receives her bid the following morning. The ONLY exception remains to be Rho Gammas and Resident Assistants.
All affiliated women are aware of these restrictions as well and are expected to adhere to them.
