Sunday, August 17: Fall Athlete Parent Orientation Session
2:00-3:00 p.m. Vahlkamp Theatre in the basement of Crounse library.
Note: Due to the varied move-in dates of different teams and other student groups, we are unable to give a parent orientation separately for the smaller groups, but parents are welcome to join us at any and all orientations. The same info will be covered in each session, but the Tuesday, August 26 session will have some special advice for parents who live farthest from the campus.
Tuesday, August 26: Optional Parent Orientation Session
7:00-7:30 p.m. Friendly Faces: Services Fair
Location: the lobby outside Vahlkamp Theatre, to be found in the basement of the
Crounse library.
Several campus offices will be present with information and representatives so that you may ask questions. This is a wonderful opportunity to meet the Centre staff members that you will be in contact with in the next four years! Centre students will also be on hand to answer questions.

Dessert and coffee provided.
7:30-9:00 p.m. You're here! Now what??
Location: Vahlkamp Theatre, located in the basement of the Crounse library.
Join us for an informative Parent Orientation Session that will include the best ways to support and guide your Centre student during their four years here. This Centre-specific presentation will cover issues that will help you be a successful college parent.

Kathy Miles, Director of Counseling Services
(This session is OPTIONAL but recommended for all parents of first-year students who are able to come to Danville on Tuesday night. In particular, we encourage out-of-state parents to attend. For those who cannot attend Tuesday night's orientation, some, but not all, of the information will be included in the Wednesday move-in day parent orientation and in your parent handbook.)
Please note: IMPORTANT. Students may NOT move into the residence halls Tuesday evening. Move-in begins Wednesday morning, August 27, at 9:00 a.m. with Check-In at the Combs Center 1st floor (the Warehouse).
At the same time you are engaged in this Tuesday evening parent orientation session, your student is invited to attend a "games night" in Sutcliffe Hall, from 7:00-9:00 p.m. sponsored by the Student Life Office and hosted by the Orientation Advisors. Snacks will be provided.
Wednesday, August 27: Move-In Day & Parent Orientation
9:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. Check-In and Move-In
Location: Combs Center 1st floor (the Warehouse)
Your student must check in first thing at the Combs Center to get their room key and other important information; then you may move them into their residence hall.
The Centre Parents Association will be hosting refreshment stations behind the residence halls. Water, lemonade, coffee and snacks are available for free, as well as help and advice from current Centre parents. Stop by and say hi.
11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. Lunch
Location: Chowan
Lunch will be served at Chowan; no charge for first year students; parents and family members may purchase tickets for $6.00. Children under the age of 5 may eat for free. Drop in when you have time and need a break!
2:00 p.m. President's Welcome (for both students and families)
Location: Norton Center for the Arts
2:30 p.m. Introductory Meeting with Academic Advisor (for both students and their families)
Location: Various Classrooms
After the President's Welcome, you and your student will be taken in small groups to your student's faculty advisor by a student guide; faculty will be located in various classrooms on campus.
3:00-4:30 p.m. Letting Go - And Still Being There (General Parent Orientation)
Location: Norton Center for the Arts

Friendly Faces - video presentation
4:30-5:00 p.m. Services Fair
Location: Norton Center main lobby

Student activities continue from this time until Sunday evening. Classes begin Monday.

Please note: Parent Handbooks - You will receive your parent handbook at the Tuesday evening parent orientation OR at the orientation session for parents on Wednesday.
