Back from holiday, it’s the minutes!!

We had an excellent start to the meeting in the form of chocolate and peanut butter fudge made by our own Thom The Treasurer Greene.  And then we introduced ourselves once again, for all those SAC’ers who are back from being abroad, and for anyone who has a memory like mine and forgot everyone else’s name.  Good thing I have a list.

Anyway, first on the docket, we talked about Midnight Movies.  They are this Thursday, not Wednesday as it has been in the past, so that all the swimmers out there can partake of the freeness of the Midnight Movie.  Our movies are Meet the Fockers, Flight of the Phoenix, Blade Trinity, and Ocean’s 12.  Mary Catherine’s making a Cowan sign, and Hilary is making flyers to be handed out later today.  Volunteers are reminded to get to the theater early (new theater, 11:30-11:45 ish) to help out with security things: make sure people don’t have drinks or snacks, etc.  Volunteers are also reminded that Monica has the list, so show up, otherwise you’ll be witness to her wrath (and don’t trust any popcorn she may try to give you).

We also talked about Carnival (it isn’t that far away!).  Carnival weekend is going to be the weekend of the 8th and the 9th of April (earlier to accommodate for fraternity formals).  They Might Be Giants is our #1 candidate, and Megan’s going to contact them to see if they’ll be able to play for us that weekend.  We decided to have the concert outside (with the potential rain location being the Norton Center).  This means more work for us, since we’ll have to put up staging and lights (also means more money, but fear not, the Foam Dome isn’t in jeopardy…. I think).  But we will have the feel of a fun outdoorsy concert that will be cheap as free for Centre students.  Please remember, that even though they are our #1 candidate, we have not finalized a contract with anyone, so don’t spread rumors that we are definitely having any 1 particular band… thanks =)

Don’t forget to come to the SAC retreat on Saturday the 8th (that’s this Saturday).  We’ll have pizza ready at 11:30, but we won’t start talking until noon (in case you don’t want to come for the pizza).  It will be in our normal meeting place.  We’ll be brainstorming for Spring term events and talking about other things to make SAC better than it already is (unbelievable, I know).  It will be fun and informative, much like the college experience, so you don’t want to miss it!

Some Reminders:

No meeting next Monday as there’s a convo.  You should go to the Convo on Monday, and then come to our rescheduled meeting on Wednesday (the 12th) at 8 PM, 3rd floor Warehouse.

Swing party is still in the works, because we still haven’t heard from Dr. Hamilton.  If you know her, feel free to talk to her about it.  We want to have it on either the 18th or the 19th this month.  We’ll set the date and time to work with her schedule.  We’re also thinking about hiring the Holiday Ball DJ and see if he can play just swing music.

Lastly, Data Match is still in the works, we’ll be discussing it at the meeting next week.  Wednesday, remember, not Monday.

Happy Centreterm to you all!
