I’ve been studying entirely too long, which can only mean one thing…. It’s time for me to write the minutes!! Wee hoo!!
So here’s the breakdown. Thanks to everyone for coming to the meeting Monday night!! I’m very happy to announce that many fairies have kept their wings for another week. Although, I think I should warn you that not only do fairies lose one of their wings, but gnomes fall off their fox’s backs when you miss SAC meetings. Try imagining David in a neck brace next time you think about skipping a meeting.
Anyway, we actually had people at the meeting to meet Megan!! Good show, mates!
And on with the minutes.
Thom gave a budget report. We’re about $2400 under budget for this semester (that’s the price of an inflatable). HOORAY FOR HAVING MONEY!!! If you have any questions about money matters, feel free to ask Thom, b/c he’s the man with the answers.
Mary Catherine gave us a t-shirt update. They’re not ready this week, but they will be next week! So check your mailboxes before you go home for Thanksgiving, because there will be a SAC present in the form of a vintage-looking t-shirt with a hot dog on it.
We have Midnight Movies Wednesday night at the new theater. The RA’s have been given flyers, there’s a sign up in Cowan, but you should all tell everyone you know that we’re having Midnight Movies anyway, in case they’re oblivious to visual reminders. We’re going to be showing Alfie, Ray, Saw, and The Incredibles (with the Episode 3 trailer!!). Students must bring their IDs. We’ve also got a whole host of people who volunteered to help keep out the baddies who might cause a ruckus, and they are: Thom, Laura W., Jessica Shuck, Mary Catherine, Curry, Marie, Laura Z., Meg, Sarah, Katelyn, and Ines. Anyone else who volunteered or anyone else who wants to help out should get to the theaters by 11:30.
Laura W. and Mary Catherine presented a Masquerade Ball update. Remember Masquerade Ball is on Dec. 4th. They had sign-ups for people to sell tickets in Cowan. Ticket sales will begin the 29th (Monday after Thanksgiving).
They’re still looking for a DJ. They have a few ideas, and they think they might be able to get someone that’s $50 cheaper than last year ($50 more for a foam dome).
In terms of food, they’ll have punch, cocoa w/ marshmallows, cookies, brownies, I think they said something about a fruit tray and potentially a veggie tray, and meatballs.
They’ve also bought a few more masks, just to replenish the ones that were taken last year, and as a SAC privilege, we get first pick.
Here’s the timeline for PR:
22nd (next Monday) – invitations in campus mail, Cowan sign
29th (Monday after next) – ticket sales, nice flyers (fancy ones that we get printed), table tents, and Construction fence sign
Finally we talked about some event ideas for CentreTerm. Here’s what we came up with:
Having a jazz band with coffee and cookies
Having a coffee house (maybe with a jazz band)
All-campus snowball
fight
Freeze tag on Cowan lawn
Bowling
Potentially sponsoring some sort of “awareness” day to go along with SGA/Panhel’s speaker
Data Match
Random Acts of Kindness
day
If anyone has any more ideas about things we can do during CentreTerm, please let exec know.
There won’t be a meeting next Monday b/c frankly, the Kingdom of Magical Creatures probably wouldn’t survive if we tried to have one next week. But don’t forget to get your tshirt in the Post Office next Monday.
Next meeting will be Monday the 29th.
Later days,
Christina
