So we talked about Masquerade Ball, seeing as it’s this Saturday =D … The party starts at 9 PM, but we’re going to be setting up the fun starting at 1 PM. We need as many people as we can to help move tables and chairs according to our liking, as well as to put up lights and other décor. So please come whenever you can and help out! Flyers are up around campus, as are masks with the info written on them in swanky silver sharpie =). Remember that spreading word like wildfire would still be the best bet on getting people to come out, though. Also we need help with ticket sales, so please try and sit at the table in Cowan sometime during a meal this week.
So while multitasking with Masquerade Ball PR, we voted on Carnival bands! Here’s the SAC top 5, in no particular order, except maybe alphabetical.. Cross Canadian Ragweed (not to be confused with Creedence Clearwater Revival), Death Cab for Cutie, Flogging Molly, Gin Blossoms, Something Corporate, and They Might Be Giants…. ok.. so maybe that’s 6.. but anyway, those are the top bands that we decided on… through a democratic process that almost parallels the complexity of the electoral college…. or not.. Anyway, Megan’s going to start getting in touch with agents and bands to see if they will be able to play for us in the spring.
While we
don’t have any intention of keeping our top list a
secret from the rest of campus,
please remember that we don’t know which band we’re going to
get. If your friends ask, don’t tell them that we’re definitely going to get
any specific band before we have the contract written and
signed. We don’t want people to get excited unnecessarily
because they heard we were definitely getting a band, and then end up
disappointed because we couldn’t get them.
If they mention a band, you can say, “Oh yeah, they’re on the list.” But if they want
specifics, you’ll just have to say,
“We don’t know yet,”
because it’s the truth! And the truth will set you
free.
Lastly, it’s about time for us to have a wild romp in our Brand New Advisor’s house! Just joking, Megan! But it’s time for the SAC Christmas Party, which will be at Megan’s house on December 8th (next Wednesday) at 7:00 PM. Don’t forget to bring a $5 “dirty” Santa present. More details to come.
