Hi Ho it’s the Minutes!
Special shout-out to Curry Mire and Liz Lawrence who actually came to the meeting last night =D Who needs convo credit anyway? I realize that a lot of people are busy with Greek things as well, but just remember… every time you miss a SAC meeting a liger gets turned into a tigon (which are stupid and smell like poop, and I assume they aren’t bred for their magical powers). So SAC-meeting truants be warned…
The Budgetman is currently working on the audit for SGA and is very nearly finished with it. Apparently, we’ve been sooo excellent at going under budget with our events that we have a little extra money left over, so be thinking of events that you’d like to see happen in the next couple of months. Now there isn’t enough to raffle off a car like Curry wanted, but we could make a very nice package for the spring break raffle, in addition to a few other events that we could squeeze in.
Next, I did my best impersonation of Monica to do the event updates. (Sadly, I’d like to note that I haven’t perfected the eyebrow thing, so just imagine a single raised eyebrow at particularly poignant or exciting pieces of information).
The DSU Comedian, Eliot Chang, is going to be here on Friday at 8 PM in Weisiger. We footed a lot of the bill for this comedian, so go see our money at work. There’s a workshop afterwards, potentially on how to be funny, but I make you no promises. In fact, I’m making that up… but there really is a workshop, so you should check that out too.
Ines’ friend’s band has gotten the contract information and has spoken with Monica about staging requirements and that sort of thing. Their concert/coffeehouse is Friday, Feb. 18th at 9 PM in the Warehouse. Check them out too, because they sounded really good. Ines, if you could email me what kind of food you’d like to have for the students that come down (i.e. coffee and cookies, or something else), that would be great.
Liz and Curry agreed to do some PR for the Twilight Bowling that we’re going to have on the 23rd of this month. It’s at 9:30 at the Bowl-a-rama. PR doesn’t need to go up until about a week before, so you have plenty of time to work on it =)
Kelly spoke to me about the Data Matches, and she’s going to count them and send them off very soon, so we’ll be waiting on pins and needles to see who our campus matches are, I’m sure. =)
We’re thinking about bringing a jazz band to campus. They’re called the Ron Jones Quartet (www.ronjonesquartet.com). They would like to come sometime in the spring, so please think about possible dates for them to do so. We thought about the last week in March, but there are convos and Norton events then.
Lastly, we talked about Carnival. CCR is booked for our weekend, so we’ve made an offer to TMBG. They have yet to get back to us, so there’s no definite answer yet to the Carnival band. Please don’t go around spreading rumors.
That said, the Carnival theme is going to be Napoleon Dynamite! So I encourage those of you who haven’t seen it to go see it, and then we can all get back together when the time comes and think up a dern good t-shirt to sell to the masses, as well as PR slogans and other cool things.
Some last details
March 7 – no SAC meeting, we will reschedule for that Wednesday, the 9th, regular time and place
Mira would like the committee chairs for Holiday Ball and Swing Dancing to turn in the program checklists and evaluations to her.
Happy start of term all,
Don’t stress too much!
