Welcome to the minutes everyone =)
We had Midnight Movies last night. 'Twas a
relatively slow night as only about 200 people showed up for the movies, but
that's just fine by us. Guess The Pacifier just didn't grab as many people
as I thought it would.
Sign-ups for the Spring Break Raffle were yesterday
and today. I hear we got lots of people to sign up, which is good.
The more the merrier, I say.
We talked about Carnival as one big group, seeing
as not many people were able to make it to the meeting. However, we did
vote on a t-shirt design. They're going to be baby blue with (hopefully)
orange ink. The front will have a graphic of Napoleon Dynamite's
head. The back will say, "Only the best Carnival of my life... what do you
think? Gosh."
We're going to order 250 (at $4.95 per shirt) which
is right in our budget. Way to go!
For PR, flyers are going to go up with other tshirt
ideas that didn't quite make the cut. We've got prizes already finished
and ordered. The chapstick will most likely be out after we return from
Spring Break. So we're on the ball there.
We've also got a confirmation from our band.
Please do not tell anyone who our band is! We're going to send out an all-campus
email when we have ticketing information from the Norton Center, so also don't
tell anyone that it'll most definitely be free as well, since we don't know that
yet either. They asked for $5000 more than we offered, so students may
have to pay a minimal ticket price. They also are bringing their own
opening act, which cost us another $250, but that's not a price we're too
concerned about.
Here's the thing: We don't have any Centre bands
signed up as of yet, and we have 2 booths. So if any of you know anyone
who is in a band and would like to play at Carnival, please let them know that
we're looking for people or email me, Ines, Nikki, or Sarah (Samuel) with their
names. We want it to be big fun for everyone, with lots of excellent
entertainment in the form of Centre bands (in addition to the foam dome and the
extreme trampoline... and those other inflatables too). Secondly, if
you're in any other organizations, encourage them to sign-up to have booths at
Carnival. Again, big fun for everyone also means campus organization
booths. Take home message: Big fun for everyone means a full Carnival with
lots of stuff to do.
On a similar note, we still need lots of people to
help out with inflatables. As part of the contract with the company that
rents us the inflatables, we are obligated to have people run the
inflatables. I know that's kind of a bummer when you're trying to have
fun, but you have to remember, we are SAC, this is our biggest event, and in
order for us to pull off something of this magnitude, we need all of our
ever-loving SAC members to help out. Think about it this way, we've
already planned the entire event. You know about how much money from
our budget is going into it (over $25,000). It would be a waste of our
time, effort, and money if we don't get it together and actually make
it happen. That's all we're asking. Make it happen, folks. I'm
attaching a sign-up sheet with people who have already signed up to help
listed. If you can work a shift, please let Mira and/or Justin know.
Also, we're going to be setting up starting at around 2, so if you can work
earlier rather than later, we need all the help we can get.
Lastly, remember that elections are coming up
(April 18th). Monica, Mira, Thom, and I will be graduating, and Mary
Catherine and Marie will be going abroad. That means, there are 6 slots
that are opening up on exec that would require able and willing bodies. A
good way to become an able and willing body would be to pick up an inflatable
shift or help with set-up and clean-up during Carnival *hint hint*. But
the best way to become an able and willing body would be to get the nomination
form from Mira and get it back to her by the 30th of March.
That's all I've got for ya this week
folks.
