1) Go to the MDID website (https://slide-library.centre.edu/ ) and log in using your email login name and password

2) After you log in, the Announcements page will open. You can set up your Options to skip the announcements page if you want to get right to work on your shows.

3) The My Slideshows page looks like this:
If you would like to read more about the menu click here

4) The Properties page is a new feature in MDID2 and lets you control all aspects of saving, sharing and modifying your shows.

Select My Slideshows from the grey bar on the left and click on "Create New Slideshow"

6) This will take you to the Properties page, where you can create and manage all your slideshows. Give your new slideshow a name.

7) Adding Images
There are several ways to add images to a show. One way to search is by Browsing. You can browse the local Centre collection, your Personal images (if you have added any) or Shared Images (which are Personal Images shared by other faculty). You can also choose which field to browse, such as Creator, Country or Medium.

8) Another way to find images is to use the Search Page. You can choose which collections to include in your search, as well as which fields to include.
Simple searches work best. Don't include too many fields.
Using the keyword field will search for a phrase like Rome or Madonna across fields.

Troubleshooting your search: If you get no returns for your search, make sure you don't have too many checkboxes included. You may need to use the Clear Form button at the bottom of the page to get rid of your last used search terms. Notice (at the bottom of the Search page) that you can also check for the most recently added images, if you requested something new be put into MDID2.

9) After clicking Search, you will be given a listing of results. Select the ones you wish to include in your slideshow by clicking the check box next to the image. Results may span over several pages, so use the arrow buttons provided to browse through the pages. Here is an example of a search for Bernini.

10) After selecting some images, it is time to organize them into a slideshow.

11) Use the light table to organize your show.

12)
Imageviewer: The Presentation software for MDID
After creating a slideshow, you will use the Imageviewer to present your lecture in the classroom. This flexible presentation program is already installed on all the classroom computers, but you will want on copy on your personal computer to practice giving your lectures.
The download instructions that come with the program work perfectly for Macs (look on the grey sidebar in MDID and click Downloads). For PCs, please follow the instructions below. Our local CTL (Centre for Teaching and Learning) has made it easy:
PC Imageviewer Installation Instructions:
Open My Computer.
Open the J: drive (aka programs on Jupiter)
Open the MDID2 folder.
Open the PC Installer folder.
Double-click the file called installer.exe and wait while it installs.
13) The Keyboard Shortcuts document will help you get around quickly in your slideshows: Image Viewer2 Keyboard Controls
14) Student Use
Your students will review your lectures from https://slide-library.centre.edu/
They log in as Firstname.Lastname; they don't need to add "centre.edu"

If you would like even more information about using MDID2, there is a very nice 34-page guide called "An Instructor's Guide to MDID2", created by Temple University Computer Services available at: http://www.temple.edu/cs/isc/services/how-to/index.html
Scroll down the page until you see "Gallery" and select the "Instructor's Guide", downloadable as a pdf.
