What is the student assistance program?
Centre's Student Assistance Program includes professional services provided to Centre students at 2 different offices to assist students in being productive, successful, and well adjusted young adults. Professional counseling is provided by the Comprehensive Care Center, a mental health center located near campus, and by a full time on-campus counselor located at Parsons Student Health Center.

Any full-time Centre student may utilize these services.

Any other problems affecting a student's adjustment
How are services accessed?
Students may choose either the on-campus counseling option or the off-campus option at the Comprehensive Care Center.
On campus counseling appointments are made by calling Kathy Miles at x5740 or 859-238-5740 from an off-campus phone. The Parsons Student Health number may also be called at x5530 or 859-238-5530 from an off-campus phone.
Off campus appointments are made by calling Comprehensive Care at 859-236-2726 and identifying yourself as a Centre student. The Comprehensive Care Center is located within walking distance at 650 High Street. Parking is also available.
What about after-hour emergencies?
For an after hours counseling crisis which requires immediate attention, students may call the Comprehensive Care Center Crisis Line at 1-800-928-8000 to talk with a counselor on call.
What about confidentiality?
At both office, counseling sessions are confidential within the limits of the law. Legal exceptions to confidentiality apply when there is serious risk of harm to self or others. Confidentiality is strongly maintained at both sites and is reflected in the numbers of students who have used the services with satisfaction and trust. Counseling records are NOT included in a student's educational record at Centre.
What is the fee for services?
There is NO charge for counseling services for Centre students up to 6 visits per year. The 24-hour Crisis Line is also available at no charge to students.
When are appointments available?
Flexible appointment times are available at both offices each weekday during the regular academic term. Students are offered appointments which do NOT conflict with their class schedules. |
