Warehouse/Combs Student Center

The Combs Student Center, commonly called the Warehouse, serves as the center for student activity at Centre College. Built in 1902 to house the operations of  a tobacco and hemp warehouse, the building retains some of its "rugged" and "authentic" feel today.

The first floor offers a large open space for campus meetings and events. Track lighting, movable staging and a projection television/ video unit support various activities in this area.  The "Hut", also on the first floor, is staffed by student workers. At the Hut, members of the Centre community can rent videos and check out recreation equipment (e.g., darts, ping pong, pool table, fooseball, air hockey etc.) or materials for making signs to publicize campus events. The Warehouse Student Staff also works to support and assist with all activities and events in the facility.

The second floor houses the popular Warehouse Food Court, typically called the Grille, where students can enjoy such fare as pizza, burgers, salads and deli sandwiches. Coffeehouses occur often on the mini-stage in the corner, and televisions provide daily entertainment while eating or just hanging out. 

The third floor offers additional meeting space and offices for student organizations. The Office of Student Activities and the Office of Greek Affairs are housed on the third floor. Organizatinal offices found on the third floor include IFC/ Panhellenic, CARE, SAC, SGA and Student Publications. Chairs and tables are located in the main lobby of the third floor for general study, meeting or relaxation space. The Warehouse Conference room on the third floor offers classroom type meeting space for groups of 25 or less.

Staff:
The Combs Student Assistant Staff manages the daily operations of the warehouse. In addition to providing front desk coverage, staff members plan and implement programs in the center. Events such as coffeehouses, recreation tournaments, movies on the big screen and study breakers are often sponsored by the warehouse staff. You can contact the staff person on duty by calling ext. 8737 during our open hours (9:00 am - Midnight -- Monday - Friday and 1:00 pm - Midnight on weekends). 

The staff is managed by Brandon Lally, Program Coordinator, and Megan O'Brien, Director of Student Activities and Educational Development.
